American
Wheaten Ale
Release date: 18 June, 1997
Cambridge Brewing Company’s Wheaten Ale epitomizes the summer quencher of beers. This is an American style wheat beer, which utilizes our house ale yeast. It is characterized by a fairly high rate of carbonation, slightly grainy maltiness, a kiss of hop flavor, and a crisp, dry finish. It is unfiltered, pale gold in color, and hazy, but the haze is due to the use of malted wheat in the mash and not from any suspended yeast as in our German Weizenbier. Also unlike our Weizenbier, it does not have the signature clove-like spiciness, but emphasizes the clean, unadulterated flavor of the barley, wheat, and hops. This beer is served (much to the chagrin of the brewers ) with a slice of lemon on the side, which can be added to the brew at the discretion of the patron as they toast the summer solstice and the summer heat. CHEERS!
