ENDLESS SUMMER BRITISH PALE ALE
It is well known that our beers are generally “big,” pushing the envelope of style, body, flavor, and alcohol content, even compared to other brewpubs and local craftbrewers. But come late summer here in Cambridge, our personal taste for lots of hops is overtaken by the three H’s- Heat, Humidity, and Higher Alcohol Content (OK, it’s a stretch, but work with me here…). Tall Tale Pale Ale, Red God IPA, Big Man Ale, and others have the hoppiness we all crave, but are sometimes (just sometimes) too rich and strong, so we have crafted…
Endless Summer Pale Ale!
Not willing to embrace the adjunct-laden summer brews hitting the shelves locally, this is an all-malt beer, moderate in alcohol, with a lot of hops. Brewed with British Maris Otter and aromatic malts, it is also hopped with a single variety of the blessed vine, Challenger hops from England. Bright gold-colored, the nose is of cut grass and resiny flowers with a touch of aromatic malt which carries through the flavor and finish. Medium in body, the malt character is assertive enough to remind you that this is a real beer, and the finish is fresh and hoppy and very dry. However, the lower-than-usual starting gravity and higher finish leave an alcohol content of less than 4.5% by volume (3.6% by weight). This is a great summer quencher designed to satisfy hopheads without knocking anyone out in the heat.
So enjoy, and as always let us know what you think!
