Wolf's Irish Red 2003

First brewed in honor of the nuptials of former CBC Barman and artist-in-residence Lee Wolf and his bride, coffee goddess and former CBC cook Diane Cutler.
Brewed vaguely in the style of an Irish Red Ale, it nevertheless boasts a firm hop character beginning to end. British pale and dark caramel malts, with a touch of roasted barley, give the beer its reddish copper hue, and the malt palate is crisp but smooth. Hops in the kettle and conditioning tanks include Willamette, Goldings, Centennial, and Tettnanger. An aroma of toasted malt gives way to fragrant hops, and the medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel shifts from caramel to fresh hop, and back again. A long, dry, balanced finish, hops mingling nicely with the residual sweetness, finishes out this deep amber, unfiltered, unfined, unadulterated beer.
