“BROWN NOSE” BROWN ALE
“Tell me you like it!”
Release date: Friday, 23 May, 1997
The latest release from the Cambridge Brewing Company lineup of specialty beers is an interesting and very quaffable brown ale. It features a healthy dose of Belgian “Special B” malt, along with dark caramel malt, chocolate, black, and wheat malts in the grist. As you would expect, the resulting malt flavors are quite complex, with an emphasis on the warm, dark, bready flavors of the Belgian malt, then caramel and chocolate carrying into the finish.
This beer has been hopped entirely with German Spalter hops, via three separate additions to the kettle. Hop flavor and aroma are noticeably fresh and somewhat spicy, and the hop finish, while not particularly bitter, is very dry and balanced in conjunction with the lingering malt flavors.
“Brown Nose” has a dense tan head, and is dark brown and opaque. Served unfiltered (as are almost 100% of our specialty beers) and naturally conditioned, it is medium-bodied, fresh, and lively, and makes quite a good session beer as the alcohol content is only five percent by volume.
So drink up, and tell me you like it!!
Cheers,
